Taken from the Offical 103d After Action Report |
The 103d Living History Group portrays the 103d Infantry Division, 410th Infantry Regiment, 1st Battalion, Headquarters Company, Intelligence and Reconnaissance Platoon of the Second World War.
The 103d was deployed overseas in October of 1944. They landed in Southern France and were committed to the Vosges Mountains Campaign. By May 1945, the 103d was at the Austrian-Italian boarder, south of Innsbruck, Austria.
During its time overseas, the Division lost over 800 men.
The freedoms that we now enjoy were bought by the sweat and pain of those men. It is the mission of the 103d Living History Group to bring that story out of the black and white past and into the color present.
No movie, video game,
or reenactment can come close to recreating the horror and drama of the Second
World War. However, by dawning the uniform, gear, and weapons of a WWII Infantrymen
we hope everyone can gain a better understanding of what these men went through
sixty years ago in a far away land. Perhaps even, we can find a proper way to
thank them for what they did.
Have a look around our site. Please feel free to contact us if you are interested
in joining or sharing something with the “Cactus Guys”. We are always
interested in talking to veterans, or anyone interested in helping us with this
mission.
Thank you for visiting.
We would like to extend a special thank you to any veterans reading this. We
owe you one!
